True Fire by Gary Meehan

Her sister stolen. Her grandfather murdered. Her home burned to the ground. At just 16, her life
destroyed. Now, Megan wants revenge.
But the men who took Megan’s precious twin are no ordinary soldiers. The brutal witches,
armour-clad and branded with the mark of the True, will stop at nothing to take back the power
they once had.
Desperate for a way to destroy them, Megan uncovers a terrifying lie.
A lie that will cast doubt on everything she has ever known, and everyone she has ever
trusted. A lie that will put Megan at the heart of the greatest war her world has ever seen . . .

Thank you to Lauren at Quercus for sending me a copy to review.

My Thoughts:

As if pregnant teenager Megan doesn't have enough to worry about, suddenly she's being hunted by witches and witnessing the gruesome murders of those she is closest too.
Setting out to discover if twin sister Gwyneth has suffered the same awful fate, Megan encounters Eleanor and Damon, two people willing to help her with her quest.

After reading everything the blurb promised I was excited to delve into the world of 'True Fire' and discover what the witches had planned.
From the first chapter I was pulled into a fast paced read that promised intrigue, gore and sarcasm a plenty.

When it comes to starting True Fire, forget everything.
For the witches you are about to encounter, are like no other. You are about to enter a world where the True rule and the priests are corrupt.
This world is like none you've ever seen before!

This world is full of great characters;
You've feisty, strong willed Megan, never had a friend before Eleanor and if your buying I'm drinking Damon.
The truth is, these characters are quirky separately but together, they are hilarious.
The best thing about this book was the sarcasm that drips from the characters lips like blood from the decapitated characters necks.

A unique debut that has set the scene perfectly for the trilogy.
Within the pages of twists and turns you will find courage, friendship and a girl fighting for survival!
